Ethics & Compliance Policy
Doing business plainly and lawfully
BASE operates across multiple jurisdictions and expects the same standard of conduct in every one of them: lawful, transparent, and fair to suppliers, buyers and competitors alike. Where local practice and our own standard diverge, our standard applies — without exception, and without a lesser version for smaller contracts. A local custom that conflicts with this standard doesn't create an exception — it's a signal that a market needs closer oversight, not looser rules.
Our Commitments
Anti-corruption
No facilitation payments, bribes, or improper inducements, from us or on our behalf, at any point in the supply chain we manage. This applies to intermediaries and agents acting on our behalf as much as it applies to BASE staff directly.
Fair dealing
Pricing and contract terms are negotiated on their merits, documented, and consistently applied — the same terms for the same volumes, regardless of relationship length. A long-standing buyer and a first-time buyer negotiating the same volume see the same terms — history earns trust, not a different price sheet.
Trade compliance
Export controls, sanctions screening and customs regulations are checked before every shipment, independently of what a supplier or intermediary reports to us. We would rather decline a shipment than rely on a supplier's assurance that it clears a sanctions or export check.
Confidential reporting
Suppliers, partners and staff can raise concerns directly with management at any time, without going through the counterparty they have a concern about. No report is dismissed for being inconvenient to the business relationship it concerns.
Compliance is checked before a shipment moves, not after a problem arises — that order of operations is not negotiable. We'd rather absorb a delay from an extra compliance check than an incident from skipping one.
